Convertible Top Windows

At Gotcha Covered we often work on the rear window area of our customers' convertible tops. Our services fall into several categories:

bulletReplacement of plastic rear windows. Plastic rear windows are both easily scratched and become yellowed and opaque with age. If the rest of the top is in good condition, there is a possibility we can simply install a new plastic window. On most models we sew in new plastic to replace the old plastic.

bulletScratch resistant windows. Technology has produced a new convertible window plastic brand-named "Ultra shield". While slightly more expensive than regular window plastic, ultra shield is highly resistant to scratching and therefore more forgiving of less than meticulous window cleaning.

bulletFixing cuts or tears near the rear window. Sometimes a convertible top is torn or damaged close to the edge of a plastic window. By inserting a new, slightly larger plastic window to encompass the damaged area, the top can be saved if it is otherwise still in good condition.

bulletReplacement of rear windows assemblies. Some car models, such as Mazda Miata's and Ford Mustangs, are two section tops – the rear window curtain assembly is separate from the upper portion of the top. If replacing only the rear window is impractical, then the repair can be made by replacing the curtain assembly.

bulletInstallation of rear window glass upgrades. Glass convertible rear window (including heated glass) replacements are available for many convertibles to replace older plastic windows. Glass windows will not scratch or discolor like plastic windows. Initially more expensive than plastic, a glass window will make up the cost difference in three or four years when the plastic window would have needed replacement.
