Automobile Carpets
In an automobile, the carpet is one of the first places to show wear and tear. Worn, soiled carpets can make a car look shabby before its time. A customer contemplating a carpet replacement has several choices to make. First, carpets are normally available from both the car's manufacturer (the dealer) and from non-dealer sources. A carpet obtained from the dealer will exactly match the color, shape, and texture of the car's original carpet. On the other hand, a carpet from the dealer will usually be the more expensive choice. For most recent model cars, non-dealer "molded" carpets are available from several manufacturers in a wide variety of colors. A molded carpet is specially manufactured to match the contours of the floor of a car. When molded carpets are available, we usually recommend them because of their good fit and their seamless appearance. Nonetheless, good as they are, molded carpets have two major drawbacks compared to dealer carpets. First, they do not fit as well, and many times do not match well the original carpet's color and pile. Second, they are not generally available in the finer grades of carpeting material. If an acceptable molded carpet is not available, or not available in the right material, our craftsmen can make a custom carpet for any car. To finish the job, we bind the edges of the carpet. While most people opt for nylon carpeting, carpet is available in better materials all the way up to very fine wool. Regardless where the carpet is obtained, replacing carpet in a car or truck is a big job taking several hours if done properly (of course, that's the way we do it!). We remove all the seats and center trim, take out the old carpet and jute (padding), and clean the metal floor. Then we lay down new jute, and precisely fit new carpeting to the shape of the flooring. New carpets can make a dramatic difference in a car's appearance. We have a wide variety of carpet samples and offer every customer the same exceptional quality work which is backed by our craftsmanship and materials 100%. (If you are replacing your carpets because of water damage and/or mildew, please see a detailed discussion of this in our section Water Damaged Interiors.)
